Want to live longer? Exercise.
Most of us know that exercise is good for us but here is some hard data for those who work better with numbers.
- Compared with inactive people, those who accumulate 75 minutes of brisk walking each week live 1.8 years longer
- Compared with inactive people, those who accumulate 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise each week live 3.4 years longer
In this particular study, subjects were followed for an average of 10 years, suggesting that these activity levels probably need to be maintained over a long term time period. If you’re not currently active, start now!
